Introducing Canada’s First Agricole-Style Rum
Hand-harvested and estate-grown on Vancouver Island, this small-batch rum is a game-changer for Canadian spirits
At Best Coast Distillers, we believe in pushing the boundaries of craft spirits while staying true to tradition. Our passion for innovation drives us to explore new approaches to distilling, experimenting with unique ingredients and methods to create exceptional spirits. That’s why we’re proud to introduce Canada’s first agricole-style rum—crafted not from molasses, but from fresh-pressed sorghum cane grown right here on Vancouver Island.
This rum is a testament to innovation and terroir. Grown on our estate in Southern Vancouver Island’s unique Mediterranean-like microclimate, our sorghum cane benefits from an extended growing season and the influence of the coastal air, resulting in a rich and expressive profile. We’ve cultivated and harvested three generations of sorghum cane, carefully fermenting and distilling it to preserve its bright, grassy, and earthy character. Unlike traditional Agricoles, our expression has been aged for over a year in French oak barrels, adding depth, warmth, and complexity without losing the vibrant essence of the cane.
Bottled at 40% ABV, this rum is designed for sipping, delivering a smooth yet layered experience with subtle notes of vanilla, spice, and subtle caramel complementing the fresh-cut cane and earthy undertones. While it stands beautifully on its own, it also shines in a Ti’ Punch, bringing a uniquely Canadian twist to this classic Agricole cocktail.
This release is more than just a first—it’s a statement. A bold step forward in Canada’s craft distilling landscape, proving that innovation and tradition can go hand in hand.
