Best Coast Distillers releases its 1927 Centennial Edition bourbon-style Canadian whisky this June — one year before the Hastings farm’s centennial, and exactly on time.
In 1926, the Hastings family came up the Pacific coast from California and found the Saanich Peninsula. In 1927, they bought the farm. One hundred years later, Best Coast Distillers — built on that same land in North Saanich — is releasing a whisky to mark the occasion.
The 1927 Centennial Edition is available now. Bottles ship this June.
It is a small-batch bourbon-style Canadian whisky, made with BC-grown corn and locally malted barley, distilled and aged on Vancouver Island. The centennial is in 2027. We’re putting this whisky in your hands a year early, so when the milestone arrives, you’re ready.
What’s in the Bottle
The 1927 Centennial Edition is corn-forward and oak-aged, built for the drinker who appreciates what bourbon does well: caramel, toasted oak, baking spice, a smooth and unhurried finish. It carries that character without pretending to be Kentucky. It’s a bourbon-style whisky that belongs to this coast — shaped by maritime air, local grain and corn, and a piece of land that has been farmed by the same family for 5 generations.
On the nose: caramel and toasted oak. On the palate: vanilla, warm spice, dried fruit. The finish is long and easy — the kind that suits a quiet evening or a table full of people worth celebrating with.
The Story Behind the Name
In 1926, the Hastings family arrived on the Saanich Peninsula. In 1927, they bought the farm. The name 1927 is the year it became theirs — the year a piece of Vancouver Island passed into the hands of a family that hasn’t let go since.
Best Coast Distillers was built on that farm — not as nostalgia, but as continuity. The 1927 name is the year of purchase, the year it became theirs. The whisky is a tribute to that decision, and to every year since.
A Limited Release, One Year Early
The 1927 Centennial Edition is priced at $85 plus tax and ships this June. The centennial itself is 2027, but we didn’t want to make you wait due to high demand!
